Rio Ferdinand is hopeful that Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at Manchester United.

"It's simple for me and the rest of the lads - we hope Ronnie stays," Ferdinand told the Daily Mirror. "As well as being a United player, I'm a fan and my heart is with the club. So in that sense it's obvious what I'm going to say.

"We all want him to stay - players and fans alike.

"But it's up to Ronnie, the manager and the board. They decide what happens, we can't get involved."
