Ferdinand fit but unlikely to start for Man Utd tomorrow

Sir Alex Ferguson says Rio Ferdinand is fit enough to play against Bolton tomorrow but is unlikely to select him in his starting eleven as the current defensive unit is in good form.

The former England captain sustained a hamstring strain about two weeks ago and has made a strong recovery but he will not feature from the start at the Reebok Stadium as the back four of Patrice Evra, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have done well together.

"Rio Ferdinand's available but none of the back four deserve to be dropped so I don't anticipate many changes in the team," Ferguson told reporters.

"So we have a good strong squad for tomorrow [against Bolton]. Bolton being Bolton, it's always a difficult game up there but I think every game away from home now you always expect a difficult game."
