Ferdinand confident goals will flow for Man Utd teammate Rooney

Rio Ferdinand has no doubts Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney will soon recapture his scoring form.

Rooney, the reigning player of the year with 34 goals last season, has managed only two for United in the current campaign, both from the penalty spot. However, his performances have notably improved in his past two matches and Ferdinand has seen encouraging signs going into Monday's game against Arsenal.

"Everyone knows what happened over the last few weeks but Wayne's come back and he's looking sharp again," Ferdinand said. "He didn't score in the last game [the 1-1 draw against Valencia on Tuesday] but he looked sharp and set up a good number of chances for other people.

"It's only a matter of time before he scores and then goes on one of those runs where he scores loads of goals. Just having him back around the place in a good mood is fantastic. He's a great lad to have around and long may it continue."
