Ferdinand becomes BT Sport brand ambassador

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has become the latest high-profile soccer player to join BT Sport, signing a three-year deal to become a brand ambassador and act as an 'interviewer, programme-maker and football expert', reports SportsPro. The 34-year-old make soccer and lifestyle programmes and conduct interviews for the new sports channel. He joins Manchester United team-mate Robin van Persie, Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale as a BT ambassador.

Ferdinand took to Twitter to announce his new role.

In a statement Ferdinand said he is "really excited about joining BT Sport", adding: "I will be doing a lot more than sitting on a sofa working as a football expert. I am going to be able to make programmes for BT Sport, not just about football, but also about other things that I am passionate about.

"And I will also be continuing to turn the tables as an interviewer putting the questions to big name stars, rather than answering the questions, like I do with my interviews for #5 magazine."
