Ferdinand admits Ferguson has Man Utd players believing they can go through unbeaten

Rio Ferdinand admits Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has the players believing they're invincible.

If they avoid defeat at home to Aston Villa tonight, they will equal the club's longest unbeaten league run of 29 matches.

That feat was first achieved by United's Treble-winning squad between Christmas 1998 and October 1999.

The current crop's last league defeat was way back on April 3 last year when Chelsea won a pivotal title showdown 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Centre-back Ferdinand, available after shaking off a groin injury, said: "You never lose faith when you play for Manchester United.

"It's in our make-up the game's not over until the final whistle has blown and until then you try your hardest.

"If you do that week in, week out, you get a bit of luck and you get your rewards.

"It comes from the manager - he has got that desire and will to win.

"He's been here 25 years and if he's still got it, then why haven't players who have only been here for a year, two years, 10 years, whatever? So it comes from him and filters down through the club and that's always the way it's been.

"That's why you see it so often that we can come back from adverse situations and create results like we did against Blackpool."
