Fer to return as QPR plot survival route

Leroy Fer is set to return to QPR's line-up for their relegation run-in.

The Dutch midfielder has been sidelined with a knee injury since February 10 but is likely to be back in action when the second-placed R's host London rivals West Ham United on Saturday.

"Fortunately he is back. He's not exactly where we want him to be but we're not in a position to put him in too much cotton wool," said QPR boss Chris Ramsey.

"Sometimes you have to take a chance on someone who isn't 100 per cent fit. You have to get that balance between making sure he's fit and he doesn't get another injury.

"He hasn't put his hand up to say he's fully fit but this was a target for him and we're going to try to make sure he's at least on the bench."

In the four fixtures following the weekend's clash with the Hammers, QPR meet Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Leicester City as they look to move out of the bottom three by season's end.
