Fellaini extension delights Everton's Moyes

The five-year deal signed by Marouane Fellaini this week has delighted Everton manager David Moyes.

The 23-year old Belgian midfielder penned a lengthy contract extension to remain at Goodison Park and the outcome has thrilled Moyes who feels it is a good sign that the Toffees are not just a selling club.

"He is only 23 years old and he has an awful lot going for him," said Moyes.

"We have ensured if he were to leave he would be an awful lot of money for someone to buy.

"From that point of view it was important we kept him; as a player and as an asset at the club.

"He is someone who has grown in the Premier League and got better and he has a lot of things in the modern game which are required.

"I think we have always had the ability to hold on to players," he added.

"As a business we are still trying to do correctly and I still would like to think we are one of the sides who can challenge teams at the top."
