Federici: Reading prepared to embrace new boss Adkins

Adam Federici says the Reading players want to embrace the new philosophies implemented by manager Nigel Adkins.

The Royals are just two matches into Adkins' tenure after he took the reins from Brian McDermott recently and the bottom-placed side are looking to grasp what the former Southampton wants to bring to the Madejski Stadium according to the Australian goalkeeper.

"The manager that has come in now, he wants to pass the ball and we are looking forward to adapting towards that," he said.

"Previously we played a different way and as footballers we want to play football. We are looking forward to the challenge of changing the way we play and finally getting some structure to the team and looking forward to the weekend.

"As a team Reading plays a particular way so to come in and change something in a week is a big ask so it will be a gradual things."

Reading, who have lost 4-1 to Arsenal and 1-0 to the Saints in their first two outings under Adkins, host seventh-placed Liverpool on Saturday.
