Adam Federici and Reading had their Premier League dreams shattered by Swansea City on Monday afternoon. The Australian goalkeeper let in four goals in the Championship playoff at Wembley Stadium as the Royals crashed 4-2 to the Swans who become the first Welsh club to make it to the English Premier League.
Swansea skipped to a three-goal lead by half-time with Scott Sinclair netting from the penalty spot, sending Federici the wrong way, in the 20th minute before he doubled the advantage moments later with a neat finish from close range.
Stephen Dobbie scored a third just prior to half-time with a lovely side-footed half-volley which gave Federici no chance before Reading hit back four minutes into the second half through Swansea's Joe Allen who had the final touch off Noel Hunts' near post header.
It was not long until the scoreline read 3-2 when Reading skipper Matt Mills fired home a corner with his head in the 57th minute but unfortunately from a Royals perspective, they conceded another penalty with 10 minutes remaining which Sinclair hammered past Federici to send his side into the top flight.
