Fed-up Taylor ready to run down Newcastle contract

Steven Taylor is ready to see out the remaining year of his current deal before leaving Newcastle United on a Bosman next summer, it has been revealed.

The Sun says the £8m-rated England Under-21 skipper is angry at the lack of contract talks and is prepared to walk out on a free if nothing is sorted.

Taylor, 22, wants to stay on Tyneside but is one of the Magpies' worst-paid players.

Aston Villa, Everton and Portsmouth are all keeping tabs on him and he can start talking to other clubs in January.

As he is under 24 years old the Geordies would get some compensation - but it would be a lot less than his transfer value.
