FC Utrecht’s Oar positive despite poor debut
FC Utrecht youngster Tommy Oar is remaining positive despite a less than impressive Dutch Eredivisie debut.
The 18-year old Australian started for Utrecht in their August 29 clash with FC Twente Enschede but was subbed at half-time when the score was 0-0.
After Oar’s substitution, Utrecht conceded four goals to lose 4-0 and he admits it wasn’t a pleasant game to be a part of.
"It wasn't the best game to make my first starting appearance," he told AAP.
"It was always going to be tough playing FC Twente in Twente, they are the champions for a reason.
"It is always good to get that first start out of the way ... even if it was not the ideal circumstances.
"It can only improve from here."
Oar admitted that the standard of the Eredivisie was much greater than the A-League but said he would eventually get used to it.
“It is a whole new world to the A-League, it is the other side of the world," he added.
"The whole mentality in the team is different and it will take a while to get used to it but it is good to be exposed to it."
