FC Tokyo play down interest in Juventus ace Nedved

FC Tokyo have rubbished speculation that they are trying to sign Pavel Nedved at the end of the European season.

The Japanese club's chairman Yutaka Murabayashi was quoted as saying yesterday that the former Czech Republic star was a transfer target.

"It all depends how things develop from now. But we will do everything we can [to sign Nedved]," Murabayashi was purported to have told the Japan daily, Nikkan Sports.

However Tokyo technical director, Tokuhiko Suzuki, says that the whole story was completely fabricated and that they have no plans to sign Nedved.

"As far as I know, I nor anyone in a higher position than me at our club has made any moves such as making an offer for him," Suzuki explained.

"I really don't know where the story has come from."
