FC Dallas have swooped for 1860 Munich defender Steve Purdy. After playing four years at the University of California from 2003-2006, Purdy signed with 1860 Munich in January 2007. The LA Galaxy selected the central defender with the fifth overall selection in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft but no longer retain his rights.

FC Dallas General Manager Michael Hitchcock announced Wednesday that the team had signed the 23-year-old defender.
