FC Dallas' Sala relishing step up to first team

FC Dallas goalkeeper Dario Sala relished his chance to make a first team appearance last weekend.

The 35-year old gloveman replaced the injured Kevin Hartman at half-time of the clash with New York Red Bulls at Pizza Hut Park on Saturday and was buoyant after his first match since May 1st.

"A difficult game, but it was fun, really fun because I knew they were going to come after us and I was going to have fun making some good saves and just having a chance to be in the game," he said of the 2-2 draw.

Sala, who is good friends with Hartman, said things had changed both on and off the pitch at Dallas this season which made spending time on the bench much more enjoyable.

"For the last two years, we didn't get into the playoffs, and we didn't have a good locker room environment like we have now," he added. "So this has been an enjoyable year."
