FC Dallas' latest signing Milton Rodriguez is set to commence training with his new club this week.
The Colombian striker arrived in Dallas on Tuesday and is set to join his new teammates on the training ground where he will spend a considerable amount of time before making his MLS debut.
Rodriguez has spent almost his entire career in his homeland and said it was good to be joining two old friends from his former club Deportivo Cali in Jair Benitez and David Ferreira
"It's very good to get here and have companions here that I know," Rodriguez said on Wednesday. "The most important thing is first and foremost to adapt to the group and get accustomed to the lifestyle here in the US."
FC Dallas boss Schellas Hyndman said it was always the plan to give Rodriguez a few weeks off before joining his new club for training but admitted it may be a while until he gets up to speed from a match fitness point of view.
"It's something that we probably had in place three months ago," Hyndman said. "His season finished two weeks ago. We had penciled in June 1 or right around then. He hasn't done anything for two weeks, so I won't see him in game sharpness. What he has is six weeks before he has to play."
