FC Dallas on lookout for McCarty replacement

FC Dallas are still hoping they can fill the void left by departing midfielder Dax McCarty.

The 2010 MLS Cup runners-up lost the 23-year old to DC United in the Expansion Draft during pre-season and head coach Schellas Hyndman admits his side is missing the link up play that McCarty was so adept at.

Hyndman feels his central midfielders are sorted but he need to find someone to fill the boots of McCarty who did a great job in behind the mids last season.

"What ends up happening is Daniel Hernandez is one of those central midfielders and David Ferreira is one of those central midfielders, so now the connecting spot is a spot I don't think we have completely settled in," said Hyndman.

"I think after the performance of (Fabian) Castillo the other night, you can say he'd probably settle in on the left side. So we are still looking for that one spot."

Hyndman threw up a few options to take the role but overall was not too fussed as he feels his playing roster is good enough to deal with it.

"Whether it's Eric Alexander, whether it's Andrew Jacobson, it could be Bobby Warshaw, it could be Ricardo Villar, or it could be Jackson [Gonçalves]," he added.

"I think we are a talented team. I think we are a team that works hard on both sides of the ball and I think we are a team that's athletic, so we want to use those areas to our strengths."
