The 27-year old Peruvian international joins the Texan club after ending his stint with French club Nice last year and Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman is excited about his arrival.
“Raul Fernandez is a very athletic goalkeeper who has gained a lot of experience playing internationally with Peru,” Hyndman said in a statement.
“He has a strong command of the box and will compete for the starting position with FC Dallas. He is an extremely motivated individual. I expect he will embrace this opportunity.”
Fernandez kicked off his professional career with the Lima-based Universitario de Deportes after coming through their youth academy before heading to Nice in 2010. During his spell in France, the 21-times capped Peru international returned to Universitario on loan.
