FC Dallas ace Akindele eager to back up award-winning rookie season

Tesho Akindele is planning to follow on from his stunning debut campaign in MLS when he hits the pitch in 2015.

The 22-year old FC Dallas forward was named the MLS Rookie of the Year after scoring eight goals and providing three assists but is well aware that one successful individual season certainly does not make a player.

"Last year I was an unknown," Akindele said.

"Nobody knew me in the league, so no one knew what to expect. There wasn't too much pressure on me, but I proved that I can score goals."

The Canadian-born Akindele added: "Here the coaches are expecting a lot more out of me.

"Throughout the league, the teams are probably looking at me a little closer before the game, so I need to step up my performance and I'm working hard."
