On the opening day of the eight-day, 180-team international tournament, Dallas got the better of the Catalan club with a 3-1 win to kick off proceedings, delighting coach Oscar Pareja.
"I told them our name is not as big as Barcelona, but it still must be settled on the field,'' Pareja said.
"When we got the ball, we hurt them."
And Daniel Garcia, who scored for Dallas in the victory, highlighted the magnitude of the victory.
"Everybody knows Barcelona. Nobody knows anything about us," said Garcia.
"It is a great feeling to win and get a goal. American soccer is building and we are proof that our teams can play with the best all over the world.''
