FC Basel are tightlipped over their interest in Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell.

The former England international, 34, is out of contract at Fratton Park this summer and is yet to decide on where his future lies.

Switches to America's MLS and Spain's La Liga have previously been mooted - but now a switch to FC Basel is being suggested.

Reports have claimed the Swiss side are ready to offer Campbell a three-year deal to move to Switzerland.

However, when quizzed about the Campbell rumours, Basel vice-chairman Bernhard Heusler refused to comment.

"We are not going to make any statement on the truth of this," Heusler told Basellandschaftliche Zeitung.
