The FC Basel star is pondering the final phase of a brilliant career and may make the move back home for one last season in Australia’s domestic competition.
Chipperfield’s Basel contract expires in June and he is set to make a decision in the New Year.
The 34-year old Australian international admitted that talks had begun and the proposition of playing in the A-League was an interesting one.
“They are interested, I am interested, it's definitely an option," he told the Illawarra Mercury.
“Signing with Sydney FC would be good for me, I could finish my career at home.
"It would be good to have one more year and have my family and friends come and see me play."
