The father of Daley Blind says he rejected English offers to return to Ajax.

The former Manchester United defender joined Ajax earlier this summer, becoming the club's richest signing in their history in the process.

Former Holland coach Danny Blind told Ziggo Sport: "There were certainly several clubs that were interested.

"In England, some in southern Europe ... It was not the absolute top, but just one level below that. Daley did not want that, he really wanted to go to a club where you could play for trophies.

"He did not want to wait anymore, and then Ajax came along, he chose it."
