The father of Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira admits they turned down the chance to undergo an Arsenal medical during the World Cup.
The £26.4m deal for the Sampdoria ace, 22, has been in place for a few weeks, but has been held up as the South Americans have reached the quarter-finals - where they'll play France on Friday.
"It is as good as a fact that Lucas will join Arsenal," the player's father told Fox Sports Argentina.
"There are many clubs who contacted us but we have given our word to Arsenal and are very satisfied with what they offered.
"The deal is virtually done and only the arrival of Lucas is remaining.
"Arsenal offered to do the medical examinations in Russia but we decided against it because we felt it's inconvenient, it is not the right time."
