Father of Barcelona star Neymar fires back at legal claims

The father of Neymar has released an open letter after a Spanish court charged Barcelona with tax fraud over his son's transfer.

In the letter, Neymar da Silva talks about the supposed tax evasion that his companies have committed, and underlines that all the money belonging to his companies is in Brazil. "Everything is received in Brazil and obviously all the taxes are paid here".

Neymar da Silva then suggests a lack of ethics on behalf of Santos.

"A lack of ethics is what is being done to us. If you say that you can and moreover sign a document that allows your son to leave free in 2014 at the age of 22, what do I have to do? I have to get things ready for when it happens, with a lot of work, negotiating for the future, for when it happens," he insists.

"What did they want me to do? To sit with my arms folded and wait until 2014, with all the risks that exist in football? Everyone won with Neymar Jr's transfer, that's what they negotiated and what was signed."
