Cristiano Ronaldo was honoured with a very questionable statue in his home of Madeira on Wednesday.
The Real Madrid and Portugal star now has the Madeira airport named after him with an accompanying bust, which has certainly divided opinion.
The airport of the island, famously known for its 'Madeira Cake', now goes by the name of 'Aeroporto De Madeira Cristiano Ronaldo' following the ceremony which came the morning after Portugal's friendly with Sweden which was the first international match played in the capital Funchal in 16 years.
Cristiano said: “Thank you for being here in my honour. Seeing my name being given to this airport is something very special. Everyone knows that I am proud of my country and especially my home city.
“Thank you very much to the president of the regional government Miguel Albuquerque for having had the courage and the firmness to do it.
“My friend, I never asked for this, but I'm not a hypocrite, and I'm happy and honoured. I know some people do not agree and I know some people who are not here would be happy for this moment.
“I will try to dignify Portugal and especially Madeira with a spirit of sacrifice, dignity and passion."
But the sculpture of the great Ronaldo leaves a lot to be desired according to the Twitter-sphere. The former Manchester United star now has a likeness to Niall Quinn, Peter Lovenkrands (even himself), and even John Arne Riise.
Not to mention, it now has it's own Twitter account!!
