Fan charged over alleged racist remarks

A 47-year-old football fan has been charged with racially abusing a player during a Carling Cup match at Stoke City's Britannia Stadium. The unnamed man, who is alleged to have made racist comments to Blackpool's Jason Euell, was arrested at the ground last month.

The fan, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been charged with a racially aggravated public order offence, reports BBC News.

He has been bailed to appear before magistrates in Stoke-on-Trent on 13 October.
