Falkirk crash out of Europa Cup

Falkirk boss Eddie May preferred to look on the positives after his side's Europa League exit to FC Vaduz, 2-0, after extra time. The Liechtenstein team bounced back from their 1-0 defeat at Westfield to progress 2-1 on aggregate.

He said: "It was a tough night. The first half was poor the way we played, but what I will say is that our back four were absolutely fantastic the majority of the night.

"Once I get the right players in the midfield and forward areas I think you will see a massive difference.

"We had a couple of boys who were carrying knocks, but unfortunately we've not got the biggest of squads. I'm not going to make that as an excuse.

"The tie has come far too early from us. I think they are a week from their season. If we were to play them a week before our season I'm more than confident we would do better.

"We have never been in Europe before and it's a learning curve for everybody."

May, who debated the red card for Carl Finnigan after the final whistle for an alleged elbow, felt positives included the fine display of young Austrian keeper Robert Olejnik.

He added: "I've got great confidence in Robert. I don't think there is a better goalkeeper in Scotland for his age. It's up to him to take the next stage, to believe in himself. He'll make mistakes like anybody else but it's how you react."
