Fabregas to lead Monaco's relegation dogfight

Cesc Fabregas is ready to help Monaco stay in Ligue 1.

The French side are struggling this term, as they have been in or near the drop zone for most of the campaign.

Former boss Leonardo Jardim lost his job, but Thierry Henry has failed to set the ship right.

And Fabregas is the man he has turned to in his bid to stamp his authority on the club.

The 31-year-old Spaniard left Chelsea because he was not a first team regular under Maurizio Sarri this season.

Fabregas played in the 1-1 draw against Nice, with Henry happy with the Spaniard's performance in his debut for the club.

"Cesc grew with the game," Henry said after the game.

"Minute after minute, he started to make his mark on the match and take that break.

"Rony Lopes does it too, this break between the line, allowing you to see where you have to play, see what the team gives you and where to put the ball."
