Fabregas must prove fitness to Arsenal boss

Arsene Wenger will have the final say on whether Cesc Fabregas returns from injury to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night. Midfield star Fabregas has been struggling with a hamstring injury and is in a race against time to prove his fitness for the clash.

Wenger, however, declared it will be him and not his captain who decides if he is fit to play or not.

"It will be mine. I have the responsibility to make the decision," he told Sky Sports.

"We will not take an unreasonable gamble with his fitness - that is for sure.

"I believe in a game like this, even if it is a big game, what is important is the team performance.

"First of all, we have to assess whether it is a risk for him to play. Is he ready to play a very intense game? Then I will make a decision.

"Above all, I am more focused on the team performance, than on an individual performance. In a big game, you only win if the whole team competes well."
