Fabregas: FA Cup clash has no bearing on Chelsea v Spurs title race

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has insisted that his side's FA Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur will not affect the Premier League title race.

Rivals Chelsea and Spurs will be going up against each other in the semi-finals of the Cup on Saturday at Wembley and many feel that the victors on the day will have the mental edge in the race for the premiership.

However, Fabregas does not think that the result of the FA Cup clash will affect the title race in any way and believes that the semi-final against Tottenham will be a one-off encounter due to the nature of the competition.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Fabregas stated: "No I don't think so. Because every competition in football is different – you need to focus on different things.

"You are playing to be in a final. You're not playing for three points, one point, or zero points – so there's not really a connection in my mind and I think in my teammates' mind, between the FA Cup and the league.

"It's a big game on a great stage and hopefully we can go through."
