Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is wanted by the FA for the England job, it has been revealed.
Harry Redknapp remains the red-hot favourite but there are doubts about him within the FA due to his ill health - he was back in the Tottenham dugout last night after heart surgery three weeks ago - and his tax evasion trial in January.
Frenchman Wenger has backing from influential figures within English football's governing body and an FA source told the Daily Express: "Arsene's name has come up in discussions. It would be strange if it hadn't. He is an internationally respected manager with a wonderful track record."
