FA to offer coaching role to Chelsea hero Lampard

Frank Lampard is set to be offered a coaching role by the Football Association.

The 38-year-old Chelsea legend announced his retirement from professional football on Thursday and it is believed that the FA will offer him a pathway into coaching.

The Daily Mail reports that Lampard has already held talks with the Dan Ashworth, the FA's technical director, and is currently considering his next move.

Lampard is completing his coaching badges at England's St George's Park centre and once he passes, the FA will offer a job in their caching set-up.

Former club Chelsea also want Lampard in a coaching role at Cobham but respect the fact he is still to complete his badges and may instead offer an ambassadorial role in a bid to tie him down for the long-term.
