FA retrospectively charge Chelsea fullback Marcos Alonso

The Football Association are taking retrospective action against Chelsea's left back Marcos Alonso.

The fullback committed a nasty challenge on Shane Long in Chelsea's come-from-behind win against Southampton on Saturday.

But the incident was not seen by the referee, who did not even issue Alonso a yellow card for his tackle. That means the FA are allowed to go back and look at the incident.

Alonso is facing a three-match ban if he is found guilty of the charge. If he misses the games, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will have to draft Emerson Palmieri into the team, who only has three appearances since arriving in January.
