FA to let Arsenal's Wilshere off after Twitter rant

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is likely to go unpunished by the Football Association after criticising referee Phil Dowd on his Twitter page.

Dowd made some questionable calls in Saturday's clash between the Gunners and Newcastle United at St James' Park which ended in a dramatic 4-4 draw after the visitors had led 4-0 with just over 20 minutes remaining.

Wilshere was clearly upset with the match official at one point and continued that frustration online by posting comments describing Dowd as 'inconsistent'.

The 'Tweets' have since been deleted and the FA will investigate what was posted but reports suggest the 19-year old should escape punishment.
