FA hits Stoke boss Hughes with misconduct charge

The Football Association have issued Mark Hughes with a charge of misconduct.

The Stoke City manager was sent to the stands during the first half of his side's 4-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

Hughes was irritated when Marko Arnautovic was booked for simulation, prompting a clash with referee Anthony Taylor, which subsequently saw the Welshman banished to the stands.

The FA released a statement saying: "Mark Hughes has been charged with misconduct following Stoke City's game against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday [10 September 2016].

"It is alleged that his behaviour in or around the 34th minute of the fixture amounted to improper conduct.

"He has until 6pm on 16 September 2016 to respond to the charge."
