The English FA is happy for team manager Franco Baldini to split his time between the Three Lions and AS Roma.
The Sun says Fabio Capello's No 2 has been cleared by FA bosses to become general manager at the Stadio Olimpico before the end of the year.
But he will continue to work for England and pick up his £1million-a-year wages right through to next year's Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine. Baldini has been under pressure to start his new job.
But in a compromise, Baldini will continue as England general manager until the end of the qualifiers in November before job sharing with Roma for the last nine months of his FA contract.
England MD Adrian Bevington said: "Franco and Fabio will remain committed through to the finals."
