Burnley's Joey Barton has been granted an extension by the FA to respond to his misconduct charge.

The deadline initially was today but Barton now has until 31 January.

This extension is as a result of a successful application.

The charge relates to Barton to allegedly placing over 1,000 bets on football "matches or competitions" over a 10-year period.
