FA give Man Utd's van Gaal extra day to answer charge

The Football Association have given Manchester United's Louis van Gaal a further 24 hours to respond to a disciplinary charge.

The Dutchman was charged by the FA after making negative comments towards match officials after the FA Cup fourth round draw with Cambridge United late last month.

Van Gaal was expected to answer to the governing body by 6pm Monday but will now be able to contest the charge on Tuesday evening.

Last week, van Gaal suggested he would go up against the FA, saying: "I am very disappointed. For nearly 30 years I have been a trainer, coach or manager and I have never been charged."
