FA drop investigation on homophobic tweets made by Everton defender Holgate

Mason Holgate has been cleared by the FA of any wrongdoing after homophobic remarks were found on his Twitter page.

Because the remarks were made in 2012 and 2013, when Holgate was 15 and 16, he has been deemed to young to be held accountable.

The Everton defender was embroiled in controversy with the FA earlier this season after he accused Roberto Firmino of racial abuse.

The Liverpool attacker was later found not guilty.
