FA CUP WRAP: Ten-man Stoke down Crawley, Stevenage hold Tottenham and Liverpool too good for Brighton
The final three matches of the fifth round of the FA Cup were played today with two more teams getting through to the quarter-finals.
Stoke City overcame the questionable18th-minute sending off of Rory Delap to win 2-0 at Crawley Town thanks to a Jon Walters penalty late in the first half and a header from Peter Crouch early in the second half.
The second Sunday fixture saw Tottenham held to a 0-0 draw by League One Stevenage to set up a replay at White Hart Lane whilst Liverpool showed their strength to defeat Brighton & Hove Albion 6-1 at Anfield.
Martin Skrtel opened the scoring with a 5th minute header before Kazenga LuaLua equalised with a brilliant effort from 25 yards before an unfortunate own goal from Liam Bridcutt on the stroke of half-time restored the Reds’ lead. Andy Carroll put Liverpool two ahead prior to the hour-mark before two more own goals, another from Bridcutt and one from Lewis Dunk, poured more salt into Brighton’s wounds prior to Luis Suarez completing the rout with five minutes remaining.
Kenny Dalglish’s men will next meet Stoke City in the quarter-finals.
