The FA Cup could feature four substitutes this season.

The Mirror says a fourth substitute will be allowed to be used in extra-time from the quarter-final stage and onwards in this season's FA Cup.

Teams that have already used three of their allocated seven substitutes after 90 minutes will be permitted to make one extra change in the additional period if the scores are level.

It follows on from the FA confirming quarter-finals would be played to a finish rather than going to a replay.

Subject to approval from the IFAB, world football's law-making body, the FA are set to 'play a lead role' in testing the extra substitute.
