The timely goal set up a grandstand finish with Rovers looking dangerous on the break through the likes of Ben Marshall and Tom Cairney while second-half sub Rudy Gestede was proving a handful in the air.

Rovers threw caution to the wind in the dying stages by sending Eastwood up for Tommy Spurr's long throw-in and the big keeper was able to take a touch before a getting shot on target which was kept out by his opposing number Simon Mignolet.

That late intervention from the Belgian was enough to keep a clean sheet for the Reds who will now head to Wembley on April 19 to take on Aston Villa.

For Blackburn, it was an inspired run to the final eight of the famous cup competition which was evidenced by the massive crowd of 28,415 at Ewood.
