FA Cup forces Man Utd to ditch warm weather plans

Manchester United face having to call off a warm weather training camp in Qatar.

The People says United's plans for a lucrative January warm-weather training break in Qatar have been hit by FA Cup TV scheduling.

It is understood Louis van Gaal had planned to take United to the fabulous Aspire training facility in Qatar after the Premier League game at QPR next Saturday.

United had intended to whisk their stars straight from Loftus Road to Heathrow for a five day training camp in Qatar - with the club likely to pick up a £1.5 million fee for using the facility.

But those plans have been scuppered - with United's FA Cup fourth round tie against League Two Cambridge United, the lowest side left in the competition, being snapped up by the BBC for the new Friday night football slot on January 23.

The Friday game at Cambridge has forced van Gaal into a re-think on whether to go ahead with a four day stint in Qatar before flying back into London on Thursday morning - or postponing the trip until February.
