Arsenal have advanced to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup courtesy of a 2-0 victory over non-league Sutton United.

Arsene Wenger's Gunners produced a professional performance to end the dream cup run of Pau Doswell's National League side at Gander Green Lane.

Arsenal's overall yearly player salary of £192,000,000 dwarves Sutton's humble £400,000 per year but it certainly was not a one-sided affair as the home side created a few decent chances.

But the goals came from Gunners players with Lucas Perez opening the scoring on 26 minutes when he received the ball on the right side of the area and his fizzing cross-shot evaded all in the box, including Theo Walcott, and went beyond Sutton keeper Ross Worner.

Arsenal went into the sheds a goal up at half-time but came out and attempted to quickly put the contest to bed.

It took 10 minutes to double their advantage which came in the form of Walcott's 100th goal for the North London club when slotting home a low Nacho Monreal cross.

Former Gunners youngster Roarie Deacon, now 25, had a golden opportunity to get Sutton back in the contes but crashed his effort onto the crossbar from 25 yards.

Wenger had already sent on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the break before introducing Alexis Sanchez on 74 minutes, indicating how serious he was about winning the tie, which they did and set up a final eight contest against another non-league side in Lincoln City.

The Gunners will host the Imps at the Emirates Stadium on the weekend of March 11 while Sutton will live to fight another day in their domestic league while taking with them the memories of a fairytale FA Cup run.
