The Football Association could extend the already hefty eight-match ban handed out to Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
The Uruguayan is facing eight games on the sidelines as well as being out of pocket £40,000 after being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra - a penalty he can appeal within 14 days.
But the FA have confirmed that Suarez's ban could be lengthened if a likely appeal by the Reds is unsuccessful. He could also have the sanction reduced or canceled depending on how the plea by the Merseyside club is received by the association.
