The Football Association have confirmed they have charged Luis Suarez with violent conduct.
The Liverpool striker has been charged for biting the arm of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in Sunday's 2-2 draw at Anfield and could face at least the mandatory three-match ban for violent conduct.
Suarez has already publicly apologised to Ivanovic, admitting his guilt, and the FA will now go about sanctioning him appropriately.
"It is alleged that the conduct of Suarez constitutes violent conduct, and it is the FA's contention that the standard punishment of three matches is clearly insufficient in these circumstances," read a FA statement.
An Independent Regulatory Commission will then hear the case this Wednesday.
