FA charge Palace winger Puncheon for Warnock Twitter rant

The Football Association has charged Crystal Palace's Jason Puncheon for comments he posted on social networking sit Twitter in January.

Puncheon responded angrily to remarks made by his former QPR manager Neil Warnock who criticised him on talkSPORT after missing a penalty in Palace's 2-0 loss to Tottenham on January 11.

Puncheon hit out at Warnock, slating him over the selection of his teams and his training regime before later removing the tweets.

However, the FA have still acted and charged Puncheon for his behaviour with the player able to respond to the charges by the end of this week.

"It is alleged that in posting these comments, Puncheon failed to act in the best interests of the game, and/or acted in a manner which was improper, and/or used abusive and/or insulting words in contravention of FA Rule E3[1]," read a FA statement.

"Puncheon has until 6pm on Thursday 27 February 2014 to respond to the charge."
