The FA have written to Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and assistant coach Carlos Queiroz to ask them to explain their comments in the wake of Manchester United's FA Cup defeat by Portsmouth on Saturday.
Ferguson has been asked to explain his comments about referee Martin Atkinson and PGMO General Manager Keith Hackett while Queiroz has been asked to explain his comments about Atkinson.
Both have until March 19 to respond.
