Hayden Foxe has recalled the talents of a quintet of his former West Ham United colleagues.
The Australian, currently assistant coach with A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers, spoke with Tribalfootball.com's Andrew Maclean recently regarding a number of topics from his storied career.
One that came up was Foxe's time spent with West Ham between 2000 and 2002 where he played alongside some great English players such as Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole and Jermain Defoe.
Former defender Foxe fondly remembers the ability of the five when he first arrived in East London and was full of praise for them all, particularly Chelsea legend Lampard who was constantly working on his game in a bid to be the best.
"These three players were exceptional talents along with Jermain Defoe and Rio," said Foxe.
"I remember walking to my car after training on one of the first days I had arrived and spotting Frank walking with a pair of running spikes to the other side of the training ground.
"I stood and waited to see what he was going to do.
"He must have completed 50 sprints on the running track as he wanted to improve his speed. Now he was a top player already but he went on to be one of the best of all time."
