EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea future still uncertain for Watford loanee Nathan Ake

Nathan Ake will have to wait to learn more about his future at Chelsea.

The 21-year-old Dutch defender is enjoying a successful season-long loan spell with Watford having made 20 appearances in all competitions including 15 starts in the Premier League.

Ake, who is contracted with the Blues until 2020, is due back at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season but will know nothing further until the West London club appoint their next boss according to his management company.

"It's a bit too early to say regarding what will happen with Nathan next season," Warwick Horton of Key Sports Management told tribalfootball.com.

"They have not officially appointed their next coach yet."

Guus Hiddink is currently in the interim role at Chelsea but is expected to be replaced by Italy boss Antonio Conte this summer.

Upon his return to Chelsea, Ake would have to compete with the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta (provided the new manager does not use him at right-back), Baba Rahman and perhaps even Kenedy for the starting left-back spot.
